The following steps will take place if there is a severe weather threat to the Southern End of Iron County. Sometimes the Annapolis – Iron County Emergency Management Team will know if we have a potential threat heading this direction and start people to a secure location early. They are in regular communication with Iron County Emergency Management Agency and Missouri State Emergency Management Agency.

The Annapolis – Iron County Emergency Management team starts to monitor the weather models and weather outlook days in advance. A couple of days before the potential for severe weather the emergency management team will do a series of tests on the Annapolis Tornado Siren from WASHCO 911 dispatch and the four backup systems. The first four will be a short noon test which is only a few seconds long. The last test will be a full-cycle test which runs a normal length of a warning alert then stop. This is so we know the siren is working and have time to get repaired if needed.

On the day of the potential severe weather, the following steps are activated.

Alerts will be given on the Annapolis MO Facebook page regularly, but always watch other news resources as well. Critical businesses and organizations will get direct contact with the person designated at that location. If you have a business or organization that would be considered critical please contact Scott L. Oatman.
